Religion at Gardner Webb

Pushing religion on people is a very controversial topic. When I decided to attend Gardner Webb University a Private Baptist university I was very nervous about the religious aspect such as in class, having to attend church and being forced to participate in things that I don't believe in or do not want to.. My family has never been very religious and I don't attend church very often. It is not that my family does not have beliefs. My Parents simply had different religious views and did not want to force anything on me and my brothers. The fact that I don’t attend church does not mean that I have no beliefs or that i am not open to new ideas. I am very open to religion and am excited to learn new things. I am currently in Old Testament and most everything that we have learned is new to me. It is very interesting learning new things and am glad that nothing is being forced on me.
Since I have gotten here things have been great. Nothing has been forced on me but I have all the opportunities I could ask for to participate if I wish. The only religious requirements I have are dimensions and Old/New Testament. Dimensions is every a session every tuesday where a speaker comes and gives a presentation which is sometimes and sometimes not religious.
I feel that students are more likely to volunteer If they have not been forced. When students have a choice they act a lot more positive and are more open to things. Gardner Webb does a good job of giving its students options and having a good learning environment but not forcing anything on their students.
